Redington has announced the appointment of Jill Davys to lead its offering for the local government pension scheme (LGPS).
Davys brings over 30 years of experience in managing funds and related services both within the City and at the local government level to the role, which she started in April this year.
Most recently, Davys served as Assistant Director of Investments for the West Midlands Pension Fund, one of the largest of its kind in the UK. In the role, she initially covered a broad spectrum of finance and investment strategy but latterly focused on responsible investment and investment partnerships.
In this new role at Redington, Davys is responsible for building closer relationships with key LGPS stakeholders, and for helping Redington to further position itself as a thought leader, and advocate, in the LGPS space.
Prior to joining the West Midlands Pension Fund, Davys worked for 12 years as Head of Financial Services at the London Borough of Hackney, managing all aspects of the fund. She was also closely involved in establishing the investment pooling company London CIV, where she would later serve as Head of Client Relations. In addition, she brings over 20 years’ experience as a fund manager in the City, having variously focused on equities, derivatives, and strategic asset allocation.
Alongside her work at Redington, Davys will continue to support the London Borough of Sutton, helping to manage the fund there.
Pete Drewienkiewicz, CIO Global Assets at Redington, commented: “We’re seeing a steady increase in appetite from LGPS funds for innovative investment solutions, with a focus on responsible investment. Redington has spent over 15 years devising such solutions for institutional investors and, more recently, we’ve started taking these solutions into the LGPS space – our most recent project being a renewables fund of funds designed in collaboration with the London CIV. As we look to expand our presence in this market, Jill’s experience, on both the fund and client side, will be invaluable.”
Jill Davys commented: “I am delighted to have joined Redington to lead and support the work they do with the LGPS. As a client, recently at an LGPS Fund and previously at a Pool Company, I’ve valued the investment strategy, risk management and manager searches they carried out, bringing new and innovative approaches to help manage complex projects. Redington’s commitment to helping clients set the right Net zero transition pathway in line with their wider investment objectives helps demonstrate their broader principles of making a difference and adding value to clients”.
