It’s official: Redington is a certified B corp
We’re proud to be the first B Corp-certified UK investment consultant, joining a community of like-minded businesses (over 5,000 companies located across 85+ countries) in a global movement to use business as a force for good. You can find a list of our peers here.
The application process was rigorous – we had to answer over 200 questions, and it took 18 months to complete. But the team behind B Corp made sure it was as smooth a journey as possible and were extremely encouraging throughout – thanks, team!
We won’t bore you with our whole application, but here are some of the things we’re most proud of:

Redington is a purpose-led organisation. Having a purpose beyond profit was central to our creation and continues to be a core driver of who we are today. We’ve articulated that purpose in our mission: to help make 100 million people financially secure. And in 2021, we updated this mission to emphasise our commitment to broader society and the environment – adding the phrase ‘for the benefit of people and planet’. This reflects the fact that environmental and social factors are in our DNA and that these considerations affect every decision we make as a business, both internally and when advising our clients.

For our team: it’s the people that make Redington, Redington. So to ensure they’re all compensated fairly, we signed up to become a Living Wage employer. We’re also huge advocates of promoting diversity within our industry. We host events like Women in Consulting – where we aim to attract and nurture female talent – and support the 10,000 Black Interns and 10,000 Able Interns initiatives – which create opportunities for underrepresented talent, to name a few examples. We also work hard to ensure our hiring practices and work environment are as inclusive as possible.
For our clients: assessing the diversity and culture of fund managers – both at the firm and individual strategy level – through our proprietary framework is a standard element of our research process, contributing to our fund manager ratings. Beyond this, we also look to identify strategies that present an opportunity for our clients to generate a positive social impact, such as affordable housing.

For our team: we chose our current offices for their low impact, sustainability credentials and scope for us to influence further improvements. Some examples of our efforts to reduce our impact on the planet include greywater harvesting, 100% renewable energy usage, recycled/recyclable supplies where possible, vegetarian food as default for internal events and reduced printing (while financing tree plantation to reflect the impact of the printing that continues). As well as this, in 2021, we offset our historic carbon emissions (since our founding in 2006) and committed to offsetting future emissions across scopes 1, 2 and 3.
For our clients: we recognise that to truly move the dial, we must use our influence as an advisor to over £600bn assets allocated across 150+ strategies to promote real change. We have several initiatives in place to help achieve this, including aligning our default client advice with the goals of the Paris Agreement (which we estimate will enable most clients to achieve a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030), integrating ESG and stewardship factors into our assessment of fund managers and identifying sustainable and environmental impact investment opportunities for our clients.
What’s next?
First, a thank you is in order. Becoming a B Corp is a huge milestone, and we couldn’t have done it without our clients’ incredible feedback and support.
But becoming a B Corp is only the beginning of our journey of continuous improvement and collective action. We’ll retake the B Corp assessment every three years to ensure we’re keeping up with its evolving standards, as well as setting goals to have a more positive impact on people and planet – whilst helping to make 100 million people financially secure – along the way.
We look forward to sharing our progress and bringing you on this exciting journey with us!
